Zanmai Pro Damascus SE Petty 5.9" with Black Lacquer Saya Cover
The petty style knife is the side kick to the chef knife and a great utility piece. A great prep knife for smaller products and a convenient size for when your gyuto/chef knife is just too much.
We continue to collaborate with Mcusta in Japan to craft series of knives that meet the demands of the professional kitchen with a distinct and signature look. The Zanmai Pro Damascus SE is fitted with an eye catching black handle that is speckled with white and blue accents. The DuPont Corian handles are a unique choice and an extremely stable material in moist conditions. This eliminates expansion and contraction of handle material ensuring a consistent fit and finish. The transition from the handles to the blades are uniquely tapered to increase comfort and control when pinch gripping the knife. They are precision laser cut, not stamped, from 33 layers of Damascus steel with a VG-10 core. This blade material provides excellent edge retention qualities and is extremely sharp. These knives are all expertly ground in Seki City, Japan for efficient cutting and blade strength. It includes a traditional saya cover that has been accented with a black lacquer textured finish to match the tones of the knives’ handles and offers the ultimate in blade protection while transporting or storing your gear. These knives have some of the best elements of Japanese knife making tradition and are sure to be lasting favorites in your kit.
"Zanmai" is used in Japanese language to mean "luxury". The word is however in fact derived from the Sanskrit term "Samadhi", which refers to the state of consciousness indused by complete meditation. We trust you will find that our knives match their Zanmai name in all its meanings.
